What is Tummy tuck?
Pregnancy or major weight loss can leave loose skin and separated muscles that exercise can't fix. A tummy tuck removes the excess skin and stitches the muscles back together.
Is it right for me?
- Loose, overhanging abdominal skin
- Separated abdominal muscles after pregnancy
- No plans for another pregnancy
Procedure steps
A horizontal incision is made low on the abdomen (below the underwear line), the muscles are repaired and excess skin removed. The navel is reshaped in its natural position.
Recovery
You'll walk slightly bent for the first few days. A compression garment is worn for 6 weeks and heavy lifting is off-limits for 6 weeks.
Risks and safety
- A wide scar
- Seroma
- Delayed wound healing
- Blood clots (rare)
